Summary:PURPOSE: To simply and accurately calibrate the sensitivity of a steel strip flaw detector. CONSTITUTION: A standard inspection element wherein material quality generating a constant false leakage flux in a non-magnetic material composed of a rigid material is provided over the width of a steel strip is passed through the magnetic flux of an electromagnet 2 at a constant speed and the false leakage flux is detected by a large number of magnetism-sensitive elements 3 and the detected values are compared by a calibration device 9 to calibrate the sensitivity fluctuations of the magnetism- sensitive elements 3. A sensitivity calibration apparatus consists of the standard inspection body 4 constituted by providing the material quality generating constant false leakage flux in the non-magnetic material composed of the rigid material over the width of the steel strip and passed through the magnetic flux generated by the electromagnet 2 at a constant speed, a large number of the magnetism-sensitive elements 3 arranged over the width of the steel strip to detect constant false leakage flux and the calibration device 9 comparing the detected values detected by the magnetism- sensitive elements 3 to calibrate the sensitivity fluctuations of the magnetism-sensitive elements 3.
