Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain an NO-production inhibitor having NO-production inhibiting action and useful for the prevention and treatment of septic shock, type I diabetes, chronic colitis, glomerular nephritis, SLE, etc., by using an iminopiperidine as an active component. CONSTITUTION: This NO-production inhibitor contains 2-iminopiperidine or its pharmacologically permissible salt (preferably hydrochloride) as an active component. The compound can be produced by chemical synthesis or by inoculating Streptomyces atroolivaceus No.70757 (separated from the soil. collected in New Zealand) in a nutrient medium containing assimilable carbon and nitrogen sources and culturing the strain under aerobic condition (e.g. culture under shaking or under aeration and agitation).
