PURPOSE:To reduce spoilage arising from slicing by a method wherein a blanket cylinder is cleaned with running speed of a printing machine reduced, and the running speed is increased to a medium speed for the printing machine and after the medium speed is maintained for a specified period of time, the printing machine is returned to the state of running at normal printing speed. CONSTITUTION:In case of cleaning a blanket cylinder, printing speed signals before speed reduction detected by a speed sensor 17 are stored in a memory 44B when a speed reduction control device 41 inputs a slicing starting signals. After that, signals are sent to an engagement/disengagement driving control system 19B while speed reduction control is made, and cleaning operation is started with a blanket cylinder cleaning mechanism 31 with each of rollers and cylinders put in the state of disengagement, and the cleaning operation is stopped after the passage of a specified period of time. Then, the speed of the printing machine is increased with a speed increase control part 43A at a low stage of increase. However, when the speed of the printing machine reaches a medium speed, speed increase operation is stopped, while the medium speed is maintained by operation of a constant speed control part 43D for a specified period of time and after that, the speed is restored to the normal printing speed.
