Summary:PURPOSE: To reduce coating material loss and washing solvent loss due to washing to lower coating material costs and also to uniformly spray a coating material without interruption during coating even when the coating material is fed from a thin tube-shaped nozzle arranged in any position. CONSTITUTION: A rotary atomizing head 5 is fitted to the tip of a tubular rotating shaft 4 of an air motor 3, and in the rotary atomizing head 5, a coating material diffusing plate 6 on which a pointed head 6a is provided projectingly on the rear side of the center of rotation position is arranged. Plural thin tube- shaped nozzles N1 -N7 for feeding a coating material and a thin tube-shaped nozzle N8 for feeding washing air and washing solvent are inserted into the axis of the tubular rotating shaft 4 in a noncontact state. In this way, at least at the tips of the thin tube-shaped nozzles N1 -N7 , gate valves 11 for opening and closing nozzle holes 10 are formed. To a manifold 9 provided with a center nozzle 8 opened opposite to the center of the rear of the coating material diffusing plate 6, the tip side of the thin tube-shaped nozzles N1 -N8 are connected altogether.
