Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent an electron beam from being deflected by a ring-shaped getter container holding a getter by setting the outside diameter of the getter container to a predetermined length, in an electron gun structure to which the getter container is fixed. CONSTITUTION:In an electron gun structure, an electromotive force Ev caused by an eddy current generated in a getter container 12 is generally Ev=-omega.u(omegat).phi(z).S wherein (omega)-u(omegat) is proportional to a deflection frequency, phi(z) is a magnetic field distribution at the getter container position, and S is the inner product (effective getter surface area) of a vector of the normal of a getter-evaporated surface and a vector of a magnetic field. Disturbed magnetic flux Bo caused by the getter container 12 is Bo=(h)(Ig) where Ig=Ev/Re. (Re is the resistance of the getter container). To decrease the magnetic flux Bo caused by the container 12, omega-u(omegat), phi(z), or S is made smaller. By setting the outside diameter of the container 12 to 5-18mmphi, S is made smaller, resulting in decreased magnetic flux Bo.
