Summary:PURPOSE: To separate and remove oil from oil-containing waste water without requiring a great mount treatment cost and equipment and lowering the washing capacity of a washing agent by adding a specific compd. to oil-containing waste water such as washing waste water containing org. matter as an oil-water separability enhancer in an amt. exceeding the solubility thereof. CONSTITUTION: An oil-water separability enhancer has function separating waste water into org. matter and an aq. phase and is a compd. represented by formula (wherein R is a 6-10 hydrocarbon group from a viewpoint holding oil-water separating effect, AO is 2-3C alkylene oxide, R' is a hydrogen atom or a 1-2C hydrocarbon group and n is an average addition mol number of alkylene oxide and 1-3 from a viewpoint holding oil-water separating effect). As the oil-water separability enhancer, a compd. of which solubility to pure water at 60 deg.C is 5g/100g water or less is pref. used.
