Summary:PURPOSE: To produce a stainless steel excellent in fused carbonate corrosion resistance, for use in a structural member for a fused carbonate type fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: This stainless steel has a composition consisting of, by weight, <=0.15% C, 0.3-2% Si, <=2% Mn, 15-30% Cr, 7-35% Ni, 0.2-5% Ti, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. This stainless steel can further contain one or more kinds among 0.01-1% Y, 0.01-1% Ca, 0.01-1% rare earth elements, and 0.1-2% Al. When this steel is used for a current collecting plate, a separator material, etc., for a fused carbonate type fuel cell, corrosion resistance in the highly corrosive part to be in contact with fused carbonate can be remarkably improved, and also the loss of the fused carbonate being electrolyte can be prevented and the service life of the cell can be improved to a greater extent.
