Summary:PURPOSE: To provide a biaxial actuator wherein the whole device is constructed small and light and accurate tracking is carried out. CONSTITUTION: A biaxial actuator is constructed in such a manner that a lens holder 11 for supporting an objective lens is elastically supported on a fixing part via elastic supporting members 13a, 13b, 13c and 13d and tracking and focusing coils 12c and 12b are wound on a coil bobbin 12 provided in the lens holder. The width (x) of a driving magnet 32 is selected so as to apply magnetic fluxes of this magnet only to the effective part 12d of the tracking coil.
