Summary: | PURPOSE: To reduce the concentration of a sulfur dioxide contained in an exhaust gas responsively by adding a speed change device for rotating a stirrer at least, at two-step low/high rotary speeds, and causing the stirrer to rotate at a high rotary speed, if a desulfurization rate is to be increased. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas is introduced into an area under the liquid level of a limestone slurry from an opening in an exhaust gas dispersion pipe 16 from an introduction duct 24 through an exhaust gas inlet chamber 14, and is ejected in a jet stream manner, soaring with a bubbling phenomenon. Thus a jet bubbling layer A generates under the liquid level. Consequently, the exhaust gas free from SO2 is discharged from an exhaust duct 28 to an area outside the system through a communication pipe part 26 and an exhaust gas outlet chamber 12. The slurry containing a crystallized gypsum is discharged from a discharge pipe 42. A stirrer 20 stirs the limestone slurry 18 so that a reactive component contributing to a desulfurization reaction is equalized. In this case, a speed change gear 46 capable of adjusting the number of rotation of the stirrer, at least, in a two-step manner is added, and is connected to a drive device 34 for the stirrer 20. |
