Summary:PURPOSE: To provide a bait basket capable of accurately releasing ground bait or hook to which bait is attached, out of the basket only at the point to be targeted. CONSTITUTION: This bait basket for fishing has a barrel longitudinally divided into two parts and an engaging mechanism detachably engaging these two parts and has a structure constituted so that the divided two parts are rotatably pivoted at the upper part and rotated around a pivoting part 3 and laterally opened. The engaging mechanism is constituted of a combination of a pressure- sensitive plate 4 rotatably installed and pivoted between faces of either one part of the barrel at the lower position than the pivoting part of the barrel, a stopper integrally attached to the rotating shaft of the pressure-sensitive plate and a receiver of the stopper attached to other part of the barrel, and has a mechanism constituted so that when the pressure-sensitive plate is rotated by hydraulic pressure, the stopper is integrally rotated with the plate and engaging relationship between the stopper and receiver is released.
