Summary: | PURPOSE:To simply obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate raw material for insecticides or acaricides in good yield by reacting a hydrazone derivative with a cyanobenzoic acid ester in the presence of ferric chloride and then reducing the resultant compound. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing a triazole derivative of formula IV [X and Y are each a halogen; R is a lower alkyl] is to react a compound of formula I (R is a lower alkyl) with a compound of formula II (R is a lower alkyl) in the presence of ferric chloride in a suitable solvent (e.g. chlorobenzene) at 90-180 deg.C, provide a compound of formula III and then react the resultant compound of formula III with a reducing agent (e.g. sodium borohydride) in a solvent (e.g. butanol) at 20-80 deg.C. The compound of formula III is new and 3-(2-chloro-6-fluorophenyl)-5-(4-methoxycarbonylphenyl)-1-methyl-1H-1, 2,4-triazole is exemplified. The compound of formula IV is new and 3-(2-chloro-6- fluorophenyl)-5-(4-methoxycarbonylphenyl)-1-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole is exemplified. |
