Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain a protecting agent for the skin, comprising inorganic porous spherical fine particles, a hydrocarbon and a lipid, capable of imparting protection and moistness of the skin to a person suffering from atopic dermatitis or dry skin and excellent in extensibility on the skin. CONSTITUTION: This protecting agent for the skin comprises (A) inorganic porous spherical fine particles, (B) a hydrocarbon (e.g. squalane obtained by hydrogenating squalene which is a liver oil ingredient of deep-sea sharks), (C) a lipid (one or more selected from among acrylglycerols, phospholipids, sterol and fatty acids) and further preferably (D) alcohols (e.g. glycerol or 1,3-butylene glycol). The ingredient (A) preferably has 0.5-18μm particle diameter, 50-200 surface pare diameter, 300-600m /g specific surface area and 0.2-0.5g/cm bulk density.
