Summary:PURPOSE: To provide the client server system which makes a write completion response to a client quickly while maintaining the high usability of the client server system with a server system of hot stand-by constitution. CONSTITUTION: In the client server system with the server system of the hot stand-by constitution, a journal prepared by an in-use system server machine 22 is sent out to a stand-by system server machine 23 once, which records the received journal in an external storage device 26; when an application which periodically answers a request to update a file from a client is executed, a report on the write completion of update, etc., is answered to the client 24 once the transmission of the journal to the stand-by system server machine 23 is completed.
