Summary: | PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst having high activity, excellent in durability and capable of efficiently carrying out a hydrogen halide removal reaction of halogenated hydrocarbon and to provide a method for removing hydrogen halide from halogenated hydrocarbon by using the catalyst. CONSTITUTION: At least one kind of metallic compd. selected among chloride of a group VIII metal, chloride of a group VIIb metal, oxide of a group VII metal, oxide of a group VIIb metal and oxide of a group Ib metal is carried on a porous carrier to obtain the objective hydrogen halide removal catalyst. When hydrogen halide is removed from halogenated hydrocarbon, 2-6C halogenated hydrocarbon is brought into contact with the catalyst. After this contact, the used catalyst can be regenerated by contact with a regenerating gas. |
