Summary:PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the hybrid type optical integrated circuit which is capable of lessening the optical axis misalignment between optical elements mounted on a substrate and the optical waveguides on the substrate, is small in size and is easily assembled at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:This process for production of the hybrid type optical integrated circuit comprises integrating the substrate 1 having the optical waveguides 6 and the optical elements 3. The optical elements 3 are mounted on the substrate 1 and microlenses 11 are arranged between the optical elements 3 and the optical waveguides 6 of the substrate 1. These lenses 11 are fixed by adjusting the positions of the lenses so as to align the optical axes 8 of the optical elements 3 and the optical waveguides 6 and by using a first fixing agent 33. After the lenses 11 are peeled from the first fixing agent 33, the positions of the lenses 11 are fine adjusted again and the lenses 11 are fixed onto the first fixing agent 33 by using a second fixing agent 34.
