Summary:PURPOSE:To correctly align packages by locating the centers of preceding and following ribs on the center line of a package reversing means when a device is stopped, and always placing the rib in contact with the rear end of the package when the device is started. CONSTITUTION:When a device 10 is stopped, a step motor 36 is operated to reset an indexing belt 33 to its original position so that the centers C of preceding and following ribs 34, 34 may be located on the center line 0 of a package reversing rotor 28. When the device 10 is started, the step motor 36 is controlled so that the belt 33 may be correctly displaced to the position where the following rib 34 is put in contact with the read end (a) of a package W to be carried. That is, if the size of the package W is S and the pitch of the rib 34 is P, a motor control means 40 previously controls the positive run of the step motor 36 to move the belt 34 toward by a distance equivalent to (P-S)/2 from the original position in accordance with output pulse from a memory computing means 39. In this way, the package W can be aligned along the rib 34 in its correct direction.
