Summary: | PURPOSE:To dispense with cutting a ring at one place of its circumference, and thereby enhance its sealing performance by pressing the ring provided with a certain habit in the direction opposite to its axial direction onto a shrinking jig provided with a tapered section and a straight section, and thereby putting the ring deeply into a mounting groove while its habit is being straightened. CONSTITUTION:A ring 3 made of resin is fitted in the circular mounting groove 2 of a ring mounting member 1. In this place, the ring 3 is loosely fitted in the mounting groove 2. The loosely fitted ring 3 is pressed on a habit forming jig 33 provided with a tapered section 33a to build up an umbrella shaped habit in the ring 3. The ring 3 provided with the aforesaid habit is pressed on a shrinking jig 31 provided with a tapered section 31a and a straight section 31b in the direction opposite to the axial direction, and is put deeply in the mounting groove 2 while its habit is being straightened. Thus as mentioned above, the ring 3 is so designed to be mounted in the mounting groove with its circular shape kept as is without being cut at one place of its circumference, sealing performance is remarkably enhanced after the ring has been mounted. |
