Summary:PURPOSE:To make it possible to clearly display color information by monochrome without reducing the quantity of display data by changing a cursor display format to a display format corresponding to its specified color. CONSTITUTION:When the positional coordinate data (Xm, Ym) of the leading part of a mouse cursor MC are included within a character display area and the area is a color specified area, a color code D2 is read out from a document file by a computer. The mouse cursor MC including the color name is displayed so that its leading part is a position indicated by the display scheduling position coordinate data (Xm, Ym). At the time of judging the area not as a character area, a normal mouse cursor MC is displayed so that its leading part is on a position specified by the coordinate data (Xm, Ym). When the mouse cursor MC is shifted, its display format is changed from a normal display format to a display format with a color name immediately after entering into a color specified area in the character display area.
