Summary:PURPOSE:To efficiently remove silyl group of a silyl ether compound unstable under strongly acidic or basic condition by using a safe and inexpensive hydrofluoric acid salt of an amine in an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:Silyl group is removed from a silyl ether compound of formula I (X is an alkyl-substituted methine, methylene or S; R to R each is an alkyl, an alkoxy, an aryl, an aralkyl; R is H, an alkyl, an alkylthio, an alkyloxy, a heterocyclic group, a heterocyclic-alkyl, a heterocyclic-thio, an aryl, etc.; R is H or a COOH-protecting group) to obtain a compound of formula IV by reacting the silyl ether compound or its salt with a hydrofluoride of an amine of formula II (R to R each is an alkyl, an aryl, H, etc.; (n) is number of HF in each amine) or a hydrofluoride of a pyridine compound of formula III (Py is pyridine). As the silyl ether compound of formula I, a penem compound of formula V ((m) is 0 or 1) is especially preferable.
