Summary:PURPOSE:To produce output information from document information inputted from an external storage means and output it by selecting and setting control information stored in the external storage means in the case where the external storage means is connected to an output device. CONSTITUTION:After an initial value of a device is set in a printing control parameter table, a cartridge detachable signal is sensed to check whether a cartridge is connected to the device. If it is not connected, processing is finished. In the case of connection, identification data are read to be ascertained and, when the identification data are recognized, the number of control instruction rows is read to set the number to a counter. Then, one control instruction is read to check whether it is a correct control instruction. If it is correct, the control instruction is analyzed and, thereafter, the result of analysis is written on the corresponding portion of the printing control parameter table.
