Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a yellowing-resistant polyamide fiber exhibiting durable effect by applying a water-solubilized silicone compound to a specific polyamide fiber compounded with a specific organic acid. CONSTITUTION:This polyamide fiber (or its cloth) having low color deviation and exhibiting excellent yellowing-preventive effect is produced by immersing a polyamide fiber or cloth in an aqueous solution containing an alpha-oxycarboxylic acid (especially preferably citric acid) and having pH adjusted to <=4 and applying a water-solubilized silicone having recurring units expressed by the formula (R is 1-5C hydroxyalkyl) to a polyamide fiber or its cloth preferably by padding treatment to obtain a polyamide fiber containing <=15mumol./g-fiber of amino groups having alpha-oxycarboxylic acid clustered around the group and amino groups free from the carboxylic acid. The polyamide fiber cloth does not deposit white powder on the pressor foot of a sewing machine and has excellent sewability.
