Summary: | PURPOSE:To economically accommodate a telephone or a low-speed data terminal in an ATM network without necessitating a clad on the terminal side by using the multiplexer provided with the clad at the time of accommodating the telephone and the low-speed data terminal, etc., in the ATM network. CONSTITUTION:An ATM cell multiplexer 20 generates ATM cells by multiplexing digital signals sent from terminals 11-1n. Namely, this multiplexer is composed of a multiplexing circuit 21 and a clad 22, and the digital signal from the plural terminals 11-1n are multiplexed by the multiplexing circuit 21 and constituted as the ATM cells by the clad 22 later. In this configuration, the multiplexer 20 is unnecessitated that the clad is provided for every the terminals 11-1n. Therefore, the existent terminals 11-1n can be used as they are, and the existent terminals can be economically accommodated in the ATM network. |
