CONSTITUTION:For the retrieving method for selecting specific image data among plural image data, segmenting information d3 is added to a record 1 in addition to a pointer d1 to a record 2 and a page number d2, and specification information on the size, etc., of a segmented image is written in this information d3. Further, the head address D4 and size D5 of a segmented image required to selectively segment and display the specific part of the image data on a display screen are registered in the record 2 in addition to a record number D1, a pointer D2 to a next page, and a pointer D3 to a previous page. When retrieval is performed, respective image data are segmented on the basis of the segmenting information, and displayed as a list on the display screen, and the segmented image is used as a retrieval key for the retrieval.
