Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a method by which an elastic fiber having elastic properties unique to an elastomer in addition to its bulkiness and elastic properties can simply be produced at a low cost by forming the polyurethane elastomer and a polyamide into a specific core-sheath state and carrying out the subsequent stretching, relaxing and heat (wet heat) treatments of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The characteristic of this method for producing a conjugated elastic fiber comprises treating an undrawn fiber obtained by conjugated melt spinning of a conjugated elastic fiber yarn having a core component of a polyurethane elastomer and a sheath component of a polyamide so as to satisfy conditions of (1) the concentric shape of a cross section of the conjugated fiber, (2) (3/1)-(70/1) relative volume ratio of core/sheath, (3) 70-90% relaxation ratio, and (4) wet heat treatment at 65-95 deg.C treating temperature in continuously carrying out the drawing, relaxing and heat treatments thereof.
