Summary:PURPOSE:To produce a structure for rooftop cultivation of plants, equipped with porous pipes, capable of automatically feeding water and made of rubber, creating a desirable growing environment for plants and increasing green in cities ever so much and suitable for office buildings, etc. CONSTITUTION:This structure for rooftop cultivation of plants is installed by dividing the rooftop of a concrete building into a section, embedding porous pipes 8, capable of automatically feeding water into a plant rearing soil layer 5 according to the shortage of water in the soil layer 5 and having an amount of water permeation within the range of 0.01-1ml/min/cm under 0.5kg/cm pressure in the plant rearing soil layer 5 in the section and installing a water regulating rootproof layer 6, constituted of a porous material, comprising nonwoven fabric and a porous film and having a water holding quantity within the range of 0.1-1.5 l per m on the lower side thereof. Furthermore, the structure is provided with an air-permeable water draining layer 7 constituted of an assembly of an expanded plastics having a water permeation coefficient within the range of 0.5-10cm/sec arranged in a place at a lower level than that of the rootproof layer 6.
