Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a document preparation method and a document preparation device capable of fetching the illustration of a landscape or the like closely related to the address of an opposite party just by specifying a place name and easily preparing an objective letter in a short time by storing the illustrations corresponding to the place names. CONSTITUTION:A place name specifying means 3 specifies the place name based on the instruction of an operator and an illustration retrieval means 8 collates place name information specified by the place name specifying means 3 and date information stored in a date storage means 6 with the place name information and the date information stored in an illustration storage means 4 and extracts the optional number of corresponding illustration data. An illustration selection means 10 displays the optional number of the illustration data extracted by the illustration retrieval means 8 on a display screen and writes the illustration data specified by the operator from them in a document storage means 2.
