Summary:PURPOSE:To make the surface of a porous material made of a fluororein sufficiently hydrophilic to the inner part of pores, by irradiating the porous material made of a fluororesin immersed in an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide or an aqueous solution of a water-soluble organic solvent with laser beam of ultraviolet light and not requiring washing after the treatment. CONSTITUTION:A porous material made of a fluororesin (e.g. polytetraethylene) is immersed in an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide or an aqueous solution of a water-soluble organic solvent (e.g. ethanol) with 50-150 deg.C boiling point, having 0.05-5.0 absorbance (log(epsilon/mol<-1>dm cm<-1>) at wavelength of used ultraviolet laser beam at 40-70 deg.C for about 20 hours, sufficiently impregnated with the solution and irradiated with ultraviolet laser beam at 190-400nm wavelength of excimer laser beam to give the objective porous substance made of a fluororesin, slightly eluting, not requiring washing after hydrophilic treatment, suitable for filtration of an aqueous solution, also useful as an organism-related material for dialysis membrane, sufficiently made hydrophilic to the interior of pores on the surface.
