Summary:PURPOSE:To provide an industrial process for separating and purifying oil or wax by using a plurality of adsorption towers having specified sizes and connected in parallel with each other in a process for separating and purifying oil or wax comprising admitting a solution prepared by dissolving oil or wax in a nonpolar organic solvent into adsorption tower packed with an adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:A solution obtained by dissolving oil or wax in a nonpolar organic solvent (e.g. n-hexane) is admitted into adsorption towers packed with an adsorbent (e.g. active clay) to allow the adsorbent to adsorb polar compounds in the oil or wax, the nonpolar oil purified by adsorption and the wax purified by adsorption are recovered from the passed solution, the polar compounds adsorbed by the adsorbent is eluted by passing a polar organic solvent (e.g. methanol) and recovered, the adsorbent is heated to dry it, and the separation and purification of oil or wax are repeated. This adsorption equipment consists of a plurality of adsorption towers connected in parallel with each other and satisfies the requirements that the shortest distance from each packed adsorbent to the inside surface of each adsorption tower is 1.2-6cm, the total area of the crosssections of the adsorption towers is 200-1000cm , and the ratio of the sectional area to the diameter is 5-50.
