Summary:PURPOSE:To protect a power element by computing the loss occurrence of a power element, based on the voltage applied to the power element and the output current of a controller, and comparing it with the instantaneous power limit value of the power element, and interrupting the output of the power element in the case that the instantaneous power loss gets out of the safe operation range. CONSTITUTION:A current command value is sought by the control operation of a main routine 140, and this current command value is inputted at a step 100, and a microprocessor operates the instantaneous power loss of a power element at a step 110, using the output current sought from the current value, toad resistance, inductance, and counterelectromotive voltage. Next, the running average of the instantaneous power loss is sought at a step 120, and it is compared with the curve in the safe operation range peculiar to the power element at a step 130, and if it is within the safe operation range, this returns to the main routine 140. If it is out of the safe operation range, the current command is made zero at a step 150, and the protective operation state is displayed at a step 160.
