Summary:PURPOSE:To set a ladder to an optimum setting point quickly with simple operation with an evasive motion applied and with flexion of the ladder body and/or load applied to the ladder body taken into consideration. CONSTITUTION:Derricking angle phi1 for ladder setting to a ladder setting point P, slewing angle theta1 for ladder setting and ladder length L, ladder length L2 for ladder setting based on the ladder length L1, and ladder length L3 for latching to the ladder length L2 for ladder setting are obtained by a computer control section 16, based on derricking angle phi0, slewing angle theta0 and distance L0 obtained by a pointing device 3. In the case where the ladder length L3 for latching is on a point closer to the ladder contraction side than the ladder setting target point Q, the computer control section 16 controls each of mechanisms 11-14, and ladder setting on an optimum ladder setting point R is made by normal operation. In the case where the ladder length L3 for latching is on a point closer to the ladder expansion side than the ladder setting target point Q, the computer control section 16 controls each of the mechanisms 11-14, and ladder setting on the optimum ladder setting point R is made with evasing motion made toward the derricking direction of the ladder body 2.
