Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent a counterflow in an upstream side vacuum sewage pipe by a check valve. CONSTITUTION:An upstream side vacuum sewage pipe 2 provided on one side of a river l and a downstream side vacuum sewage pipe 3 provided on the other side are mutually connected by a water pipe 4 laid under the river 1, and also connected by an air pipe 5 having a valve 6. The upstream side vacuum sewage pipe 2 is allowed to communicate with the atmosphere by an atmospheric communicating pipe 10, and a check valve 8 is provided on the upstream side vacuum sewage pipe 2. When the valve 6 is closed, and a valve 9 is opened, the water in the water pipe 2 is sucked to the downstream side vacuum sewage pipe 3, and the water pipe 4 is blown out.
