Summary:PURPOSE:To enable adjustment for positioning in the forward/rearward directions of a front holding device without requiring much labor by a method wherein holding pieces for holding plate-like articles are provided through expandable/contractile mechanisms operating on linkage to the interior side of a front frame erected on the front edge of a base part. CONSTITUTION:For putting plate glasses in storage, upper rails 10, 10 are swung rearward and side arms 11, 11 and a front frame 4 are removed. Several pieces of plate glasses are supported, being positioned upright as a batch, with their lower ends placed on a base 2 while the rear side thereof being held with back-holding members 3. Then, the front frame 4 is attached and the upper rails 10, 10 are swung back and engaged with the front frame 4, keeping a specified distance between the back-holding members 3 and the front frame 4. Holding pieces 5, 5 on the right and the left are unlocked and made to hold the front face of the plate glasses, being guided by expandable/contractile mechanisms 6 operating on linkage. For utilize energizing force of the holding pieces 5 and the links, addition to their self-weight, and works can be executed efficiently.
