Summary:PURPOSE:To more exactly perform recording and reproduction by reversely moving an objective lens and decelerating it before stopping the drive when the objective lens is moved to a prescribed position based on a position detecting signal in the tracking direction by means of an ultrasonic motor. CONSTITUTION:A lens position signal A is generated by means of a differential amplifier 12 from a signal caused by detecting the position of an objective lens 9 in the tracking direction by means of lens position sensors 11a, 11b. An MPU 5 receives the signal A, changes a changeover switch 22 from tracking control to positioning control and controls the position of the lens 9 through an AT coil and drivers 8, 7. When the lens 9 is moved to a prescribed position, the MPU 5 outputs an ON/OFF signal for driving of an ultrasonic motor 21 and an FWD/REV signal for its rotating direction to a changeover switch 18. The MPU 5 moves the lens 9 in the reverse direction by means of these signals and instructs the deceleration of the motor 21 by means or a pulse-width setting circuit 16 before stopping the drive. Consequently, recording and reproduction is much exactly performed.
