Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the subject element having high luminance and a long life time. CONSTITUTION:An organic electroluminescent element prepared by laying an anode, a hole injection layer 3 comprising an aromatic tert. amine of the formula, a luminescent layer 4 and a cathode 2b in the given odor, wherein the luminescent layer is doped with a substance acting as a hole trap in order that the rise in the potential barrier at the interface between the cathode and the luminescent layer may be suppressed to prevent the luminance from decreasing, is provided. In the formula, R1 to R6 are each hydrogen, halogen, a 1-8 C alkyl or a 1-8 C alkoxyl; and (l), (m), (n) and o are each 0-3.
