Summary:PURPOSE:To improve efficiency by reducing the switching loss of a switching element at the time of small input voltage. CONSTITUTION:A capacitor C4 is charged gradually when a switching element Q1 is tuned off, and a transistor Q3 is turned on when the voltage of the capacitor C4 exceeds saturation voltage between the base and emitter of a transistor Q3. Consequently, the switching element Q1 is controlled in the direction that the off of the switching element Q1 is maintained. As a result, switching loss at the time of light load is reduced, thus improving efficiency. When load is to some extent weighted, the on period of the switching element Q1 is prolonged, a capacitor C6 is charged gradually, and a transistor Q8 is tuned on. Accordingly, the transistor Q3 is turned off, thus releasing the control action of a first control circuit 1.
