CONSTITUTION:A first oriented film 12, a second oriented film 13 opposed to the film 12, a liq. crystal layer 15 held between the films 12 and 13 and a couple of picture element electrodes formed with the liq. crystal layer 15 in between and controlling the birefringence of the layer 15 by an electric field for each picture element are provided to constitute a liq. crystal display panel. The layer 15 in the picture element is divided into plural sections 15C to 15F having a different orientational state of the liq. crystal molecule from one another.
