Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an attractant exhibiting excellent attracting properties on imagoes of soy bean beetle, having excellent economic efficiency, containing an aniline derivative and/or a benzoic acid ester derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:This attractant for imagoes of soy bean beetle comprises one or two or more compounds selected from an aniline derivative of formula I (R1 is methyl, ethyl, OH, methoxy, ethoxy, carboxymethyl or carboxyethyl) or a benzoic acid ester derivative of formula II (R2 is methyl, ethyl, propyl or isopropyl; R3 is H, OH, methyl, methoxy or ethoxy) as an active ingredient. Methyl anthranilate, methyl benzoate, methyl toluate and methyl 2- methoxybenzoate are preferable as the active ingredient. The compound of formula I or formula II is advantageous because it is readily obtainable or inexpensively synthesized. The compound of formula I or formula II is used as it is or made into a solution in an effective solvent, supported on a proper carrier and used.
