Summary:PURPOSE:To back up the recording information without impeding the access by a computer main body by utilizing the automatic recovery function that the disk array device has. CONSTITUTION:Addresses when the computer main body 50 accesses the disk array device 60, are converted by an address converting mechanism 55. The address converting mechanism 55 converts the addresses so that logically successive addresses are made to correspond to logically successive areas of data disk devices 61, 62, and 63. When the recording information of the disk array device 60 is backed up, the computer main body 50 the data disk device having the recording area to be backed up in an pseudo fault state. Then, the automatic recovery function which uses the recording information of the remaining disk devices is substituted for access to the data disk device in the pseudo fault state. Meanwhile, the recording information to be backed up is read out from the data disk device in the pseudo fault state and duplicated.
