Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a reversal phenomenon preventing device which detects a position that omits a zero cross point from quantized FM signal and prevents the occurrence of a reversal phenomenon while an S/N is kept in its best condition. CONSTITUTION:A reversal phenomenon detector 55 is inputted with quantized digital FM signals and detects the place where the zero cross point between the inputted digital FM signals and the output signals of a lower band wave emphasis filter 82, which emphasizes the lower band waves, is omitted. In accordance with the detection result of the detector 55, a selector 56 selects any one of the inputted digital FM signals or the output signals of the filter 82 or the output signals of a side band maximum suppressing filter 54 which suppresses the side band waves.
