Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a valve operation device for an engine which can reasonably keep a stable connection condition between a plurality of rocker arms. CONSTITUTION:A first rocker arm 1. is driven by a first cam and has a leading end 1A sliding with a valve head. A second rocker arm 5 is oscillatably supported by the first rocker arm, and driven by operation force supplied from a second cam 9 arranged coaxially to the first cam. A switching means is supported by the first rocker arm, and switches connected/disconnected states between the second rocker arm and the first rocker arm. Under the connected state, pressing force to be transmitted from the second rocker arm to the switching means is always kept smaller than the operation force.
