Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an agent for suppressing the infection and proliferation of human T cell leukemia virus, effective for preventing the crisis of human T cell leukemia and treating the disease and having decreased side effects. CONSTITUTION:This agent for suppressing the infection and proliferation of human T cell leukemia virus contains an iron-binding protein, its chemically modified product or its decomposition product as an active component. The iron-binding protein is e.g. lactoferrin and transferrin and the chemically modified product is e.g. a peptide containing basic amino group or a protein bonded with a polyamine to improve the cytotropic nature. The decomposition product is an enzymatic decomposition product or a chemically decomposed product.
