Summary:PURPOSE:To realize an optical fiber gyro in which the vibration of a phase modulator is stable, whose degree of modulation can be kept definite and which can detect an angular velocity stably. CONSTITUTION:A phase modulation-type optical fiber gyro is formed by using a phase modulator 3 in which an optical fiber gyro 2 has been wound in many turns on the outer circumference of a cylindrical piezoelectric vibrator 1 which is composed of a piezoelectric material. The phase modulator 3 is arranged on, and fixed to, an enclosure bottom face 4 in such a way that the axial line direction of the piezoelectric vibrator 1 is parallel to the enclosure bottom face 4. Even when the hardness of a sheet or an adhesive is changed due to a change in the temperature of surroundings, the expansion or the contraction in the radial direction of the piezoelectric vibrator is hardly changed, the degree of modulation of the phase modulator is kept definite, and the detection accuracy of the optical fiber gyro is stabilized.
