Summary:PURPOSE:To make the formation of a black matrix on a substrate possible without increasing the number of stages and to compatibly attain an improvement in opening rate and reduction of a cost. CONSTITUTION:An ITO film and a Cr film are laminated and formed on a glass 21 and are subjected to patterning to form at least drains, drain bus lines, sources and display electrodes 25. An operating semiconductor layer and a gate insulating film as well as gate electrodes and gate bus lines are formed. A black resin film is then formed over the entire surface and are thereafter subjected to patterning to form patterns, i.e., the black matrix or a part thereof. The Cr film on the display electrodes 25 is then removed with the patterns of the black resin film 30 to make the electrodes transparent.
