PURPOSE:To provide a height controller for controlling the height of a gas collector for searching the leakage without producing dust when a leak point of an underground enclosed object is searched using a rare gas while preventing inclination of the collector with respect to the ground surface. CONSTITUTION:A truck 1 running on the ground above an underground enclosed object injected with a rare gas is provided with a gas collector 4 comprising a suction pipe 2 for sweeping the gas on the ground and a guide board 3 disposed at the forward end thereof. The guide board 3 is provided with a noncontact detector 24 for detecting the distance from the ground surface and the gas collector 4 is fixed to the truck 1 through a regulator 5 being controlled by an output signal from the detector 24. The height regulators 5 are provided a plurality of sets. This constitution sustains the gas collector 4 at a predetermined height from the ground surface and measures the concentration of rare gas accurately without causing fluctuation thereof due to variation of height.
