Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a cephem derivative having excellent antimicrobial activity efficiently and in high yield by reacting a specific amine compound with a prescribed carboxylic acid compound. CONSTITUTION:This cephem derivative of formula III is obtained by reacting a compound of formula I [A1 is a (non)cyclic ammonio group] a compound in which COO<-> of the compound is protected with a protecting group or its salt with a compound of formula II (R1 is a fluorine-substituted lower alkyl), a compound in which an amino group of the compound is protected with a protecting group) or its salt and optionally eliminating the protecting group. The compound of formula I is a new compound.
