PURPOSE:To provide an electric vehicle and controller therefor in which the operating conditions of electric vehicle is detected from electric components, the pulsating current of motor is varied based on the detected signals, and the operating conditions are notified to a driver and persons present around the vehicle by means of an electromagnetic sound having tone quality generated from the motor. CONSTITUTION:A controller 7 for a power converter 2 is provided with means 780 for notifying the operating conditions of an electric vehicle based on information obtained from electric components. A current control means 750 controls the power converter 2 to generate an electromagnetic sound having tone quality based on the information received from the means 780. This constitution ensures safety of driver and persons present around an electric vehicle.
