Summary:PURPOSE:To make separation of a cover easy on unsealing while keeping the property of tight sealing to a container, and to make appearance on the opened edge satisfactory by a method wherein cut-in parts in half cutting are provided to the cover from its sealant layer side. CONSTITUTION:A cover 1 for a container 21 having a flange 22 on its opening is formed of a laminated body made up in the order from the exterior side of a cover base material layer 2, a cushioning material layer 3, a base layer 4, and a sealant layer 5. The adhesive strength between the cushioning material layer 3 and the base layer 4 is made to be such that separation becomes possible between the two layers when pulled by fingertips. In sealing the container with the cover l, cut-in parts 6 and 7, extending from the sealant layer 5 to the boundary layer between the base layer 4 and the cushioning layer 3, are provided to the cover respectively on a position along the internal periphery 23 of the flange 2 and a position outside a sealing part 8. As a pull-up piece 9 is pulled up, the upper layer 11 and the lower layer 12 start on separation from the position of the cut-in part 7, and when the separation comes to the cut-in part 6, the upper layer 11 is separated with the lower layer 12 stuck together, and an opening is made in a neat circular shape.
