Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in picture quality of a high picture quality video signal and to display a video image with high resolution. CONSTITUTION:A video signal IN is converted into a laser beam S20 of a visual light by a visual light converter 20. A 2-dimension scanning section 31 deflects the laser beam S20 in horizontal and vertical directions and applies direct raster scanning onto a retina 13 through pupils 11. In this case, an infrared ray laser beam S41 emitted from an infrared ray laser 41 is sent to eye balls 10 through beam splitters 42, 43 and a photoelectric conversion device 44 converts a reflected light from the eye balls 10 into an electric signal, a picture processor 45 extracts visual line information from the electric signal, and a visual line tracking controller 46 tracks the emission direction of the laser beam S30 emitted from the retina projector 30 with the movement of the pupils 11 based on the visual line information.
