Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a metal halide lamp of high efficiency and high color rendering, which has the light color close to black body radiation, which has excellent life characteristic, and with which relative color temperature of 2800-3700K can be achieved. CONSTITUTION:Lanthanoid metal halide containing at least any one among DyI3, TmI3 and HoI3, NaI of 40-60wt.% in relation to the total amount of sealed halide, and T1I of 6-10wt.% in relation to the total amount of sealed halide, are sealed in an emission tube 1. The tube wall load (the lamp power in relation to the total inner surface area of the emission tube) of the emission tube 1 is set to 11-17W/cm , while the lamp power is 220-280W, and the relative color temperature is set to 2800-3700K.
