Summary:PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of inspection for a surface defect, and to enhance the quality of painting by providing a marking device for a surface defect inspecting device, which puts a mark on the outer surface of the painting at a position of a defect occurring during painting of an automobile body. CONSTITUTION:A marking device is connect to a painting defect inspecting device 1A which comprises an image pick-up camera 7 for picking up a surface condition of a painted body 2 so as to deliver an image signal, and an image processing device 22 for processing an image so as to detect a defect on the painted surface, and is composed of a making robot for applying a peelable adhesive tape 12 on the outer surface of the painted body 2 at a position of a defect detected by the inspection device 1A, and a tape gripping part.
